Works on the Metronet project in Perth, WA required the lowering of existing cables and exposing of the Main Cable Route (MCR) alongside the active rail tracks. With the rail being a vital infrastructure link, it was imperative that the MCR and cables were not damaged as this would significantly disrupt rail traffic. The cables had to be protected, with the size of the excavation to be kept to a minimum due to other existing underground services. The DryVac vacuum excavator delivered precision excavations while keeping existing services safe and undisturbed. Keeping the excavated material dry allowed it to be used as backfill.
